The Limited Scope Medical Assistant role combines the skills and responsibilities of a Medical Assistant and a
Limited Scope X-Ray Machine Operator, as defined by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. This is an unlicensed person who provides clinical assistance and administrative skills to support patient centered care delivery in an ambulatory practice setting as part of a collaborative team. The Limitedcope Medical Assistant performs functional assignments within the clinic, assists with procedures, provides skilled clinical tasks and laboratory procedures and performs limited diagnostics x-rays which meet UCH Radiology Protocol quality expectations as delegated by a Healthcare Professional according to clinic specific guidelines and asoutlined in the Ambulatory Services Guideline "Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Performing Clinical Duties/Procedures".
Performs skilled clinical tasks and procedures as ordered and delegated after competency verification,
Reports findings and documents outcomes.
Manage patient flow with proper check in, rooming processes, communication with health care team and patient/family through the discharge process.
Obtain vital signs, height/weight and collecting patient health information according to clinic specific standard visit guidelines. Prepare patients and rooms for exams and procedures.
Assists with sterile procedures.
Sets up equipment and supplies and assists with clinic specific procedures as directed such as PAP,
colposcopy, EKG, ear irrigation.
Obtains Pulse Oximetry, Peak Flow, visual acuity and applies ACE wrap/splints and Hot/Cold
Documentation of completion of a formal Medical Assistant program through an accredited school or documentation of a medical program that meets the criteria of a medical assistant program such as military prepared corpsman or medic.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of formal Medical Assistant and Limited Scope clinical program and 6 months of related experience as a Medical Assistant and Limited Scope radiology skills
Registered or certified limited scope MA.
Limited Scope operator's certification from the State of Colorado.
ActiveAmerican Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card.
Medical Assistant certification or registered Medical Assistant.
One or more years of Medical Assistant experience and credentialed as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
One year experience demonstrating radiology skills of a limited scope operator.
