Responsible for assisting to ensure patient focused, quality, effective, efficient, nursing care & service behaviors of staff supporting the practices of physicians & other medical providers; assists the Manager in supervising & coordinating the activities of personnel. Partners w/ the physician leaders in creating a culture of commitment to patient focused service, excellent support of physician practices, innovation, compliance, ethics & integrity. Assists w/ and/or manages staff, projects, budgets, & other related leadership activities. Performs all responsibilities of a RN as required. Accountable for creating a culture of compliance, ethics & integrity. Maintains knowledge of & assures departmental compliance with policies & procedures, & applicable regulatory requirements & accreditation standards. Responds appropriately to observed fraud or abuse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises, leads, role models and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in providing excellent patient focused care & supporting physician practices through the provision of integrated, effective & innovative nursing practices & related medical services. Supervises daily staffing and productivity in assigned area/department. Assures appropriate staff assignments and schedules and seeks resources as needed.
Serves as role model, mentor, and supervisor of staff.
Acts as a leadership and clinical resource for assigned area/department. Supports associates in resolving patient and unit/department issues, concerns, and complaints. Escalates issues as needed/ as warranted.
Participates in a leadership role in performance improvement activities, new initiatives, and other unit functions. Participates in interviewing and selection of assigned personnel.
Proactively seeks opportunities to identify and implement methods to improve financial outcomes, patient care and outcomes, and associate and physician engagement.
Performs the responsibilities of a RN, as needed
Demonstrates and promotes exemplary service orientation to patients, members, providers, & staff.
Oversees training of personnel and ensures orientation to policies, procedures & expectations. Ensures that the training activities incorporate all applicable policies, local, state & federal laws & regulations, & accreditation standards.
Participates with managing associate performance, including motivating, coaching and counseling on immediate performance issues, recommending appropriate action, disciplining, and advising leadership on terminations. Supports department leadership in issue/conflict resolution, developing performance improvement plans, and administering the discipline process.
Assesses & develops recommendations for new or revised general or nursing policies, procedures, and guidelines.

May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
Associates or Diploma prepared nurses must complete a Bachelor of Arts or Science in Nursing within five years of hire.
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American Heart Association is required. (ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service.)
Certification as appropriate for unit or service is preferred.
Three years RN nursing experience required.
