In this position, the Clinical Assistant supports clinical staff in the delivery of patient care services including laboratory duties.
Patient Care: â??Greets, escorts and prepares patients for exams and procedures. â??Performs and records vital signs and patient history information to include chief complaint allergies, and current medications. Independently performs designated procedures (i.e. EKG, pulse oximetry, etc.) and assists providers within the Clinical Assistant scope of practice and HRH standards. â??Discharges patient and schedules appointments, specialty referrals and tests as directed by provider. Recognizes and responds appropriately to medical emergencies.
Lab Procedures: â??Greets, escorts and prepares patients for exams and procedures. â??Prepares and instructs patient for lab procedure. â??Performs lab tasks, collects and logs specimens; performs waived testing. â??Completes documentation requirements for specimen collection.
General Duties: â??Maintains exam rooms and consistently replinshes patient care supplies. Operates medical and office equipment independently. â??Performs quality assurance checks on supplies and equipment. â??Performs specified cleaning procedures in clinical areas and on equipment.
Education, Experience, and Licensure/Certification Requirements: Requirements are representative of minimum level of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.
1. High Scholl Diploma or Equivalent. 2. Current BLS certification or successful completion w/in 3 mos of hire. 3. Current lab skills or successful completion of in-service and competency w/in 3 mos. 4. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically w/in a multi-functional team. 5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 6. Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment. 7.Experience in understanding and usage of computers as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position.
