The RN Unit Educator is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in a specific area of clinical nursing and is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a program of education for an assigned population. Programming includes initial and ongoing staff competency (including a standardized department-based orientation), as well as continued education as identified by needs assessments and regulatory requirement initiatives. Applies policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate to their populations. The scope of the education will be determined through collaborative practice with department management, medical directors, educators, and clinical staff to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care; assumes the role of an educator, facilitator, consultant, researcher and change agent.
Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited School of Nursing
Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN), Education, or other related graduate field of study strongly preferred
Formal education in simulation-based training in progress within six months of hire
Minimum Experience Requirements
Four years of recent nursing experience with Flight for Life Colorado or another critical care transport program.
Strong critical care experience and education or simulation experience will be considered in lieu of transport experience.
Two years of staff development, academic teaching and /or project development coordination preferred
Requires advanced knowledge in nursing, evidence-based practice methods, and person-centered care concepts Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty unit
Knowledge in computer instructional technology, simulation-based training, and distance learning
Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office products and e-learning platform
Current Colorado RN license/ Current RN license from a participating state in National Licensure Compact Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association required ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
CCRN (Critical Care RN) within 6 months of hire/transfer
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within 6 months of hire/transfer
TPATC (Transport Provider Advanced Trauma Course) or ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 12 months hire/transfer
STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support related to transport of the neonate) within 12 months hire/transfer
CFRN (Certified Flight RN) within 2 years of hire
Currency in all certifications required by CAMTS relative to this position
Heavy Work - exert/lift up to 100 lbs. force occasionally, and/or 50 lbs. frequently, and/or 20 lbs. constantly
