Provides clinical knowledge and expertise to the EMR (Epic eSummit) Design, Build, Implementation and Validation process and procedures.
Partners with the IST team and analysts to determine the clinical tools needed in the eSummit computer/clinical electronic record system – reviews each portion of the patient record and creates a tool for the electronic chart
Coordinates and facilitates application system design, support and upgrades and implementations for EMR and all information systems that support patient care functions and documentation.
Highly involved in supporting and promoting the EPIC eSummit project to other providers and end users -services as a role model in supporting eSummit.
Provides evidence based direction in developing computer tools
May assist in “testing “ EPIC eSummit functionality
Translates healthcare practice and the workflows of medical and care team staff into system requirements and functionality.
Responsible for transformation of workflow as enabled by new systems, as well as modeling system functionality and usability to support workflow.
Provides EMR -computer based application and electronic medical record support, design and developmentfunctions such as:
Clinical staff and physician computer functionality support and trouble-shooting
Documents and manages change and fix requests
Assists with clinical workflow process and reinforcement of computer education
Communicates and support computer functionality upgrades and updates
Participates in EMR audits
Assists with diagnosing end-user clinical computer problems by completing a workflow observation and printing HIPAA compliant screen shot, problem solves with the IST analyst
Provides Epic reporting assistance training/development to end-users – describes Epic function functionality such as Clarity , Crystal, and reporting workbench , assists in identifying reporting needs within the organization and recommends report to end-users
Identifies and monitors interdependences between various applications
Collaborates with end-users to cultivate ideas for the EMR
Assist the end-users in articulating application integration, translates and conveys impact of the EMR process
Assesses and manages risk and issues throughout all aspects of the EMR application
Assists with the design, plan, test, implementation and support of the organization’s EMR including current EMR, changes to the EMR functionality and system, new applications, new upgrades and releases
Maintains the integrity of the EMR, by monitoring change requests and their impact on the longitudinal record
Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related field
Current license to practice nursing in the state of Colorado
Two years of computer based training experience
Two years relevant training or end user support experience
Minimum of 5 years in the healthcare industry
Health care background or work experience in the health care environment
EMR or EPIC training experience
Performance Improvement and Regulatory training or experience
