Assists and works in close harmony with the Director of Nutritional Services. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supervision of employees and ensuring that department goals are met according to the policies and procedures of the department. Works with the cooks to prepare quality cafeteria meals; adjusts and distributes cafeteria menus; performs performance evaluations, and gives orientation to new personnel; assists the cook with food preparation and other positions, as needed, during peak hours. Maintains CQI data and conducts performance improvement projects in conjunction with the Director of Nutritional Services and departmental goals. Responsible for maintaining compliance with policies and procedures, current state, federal, and local standards to assure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis. Performs all other duties as assigned.
A. Education: A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Some college preferred.
B. Experience: Prefer a minimum of one year of similar experience. Supervisory training preferred. Must be knowledgeable in areas of retail/restaurant food operations, including marketing, promotion planning, pricing, customer service, and catering experience.
C. Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional staff. Must possess good interpersonal communication skills. Should be self-motivated and take initiative. Must have the ability to plan and meet deadlines. Requires general cooking knowledge and the ability to supervise others. This position may require interaction with people of all ages; therefore, the employee must have communications skills appropriate for people of all ages.
