The antimicrobial stewardship (ASP) pharmacist is responsible for evaluating and improving antimicrobial use and assuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ASP pharmacist will work with the ASP ID physician, microbiology lab, and infection prevention to ensure safe, evidence-based practices and will provide education and support related to antimicrobial use to health care providers and pharmacists.
Specific responsibilities include analysis of antibiotic use data submitted to NHSN, medication use evaluation of broad spectrum antibiotics, monitoring drug therapy management protocols, participation on local committees related to antibiotic use and infection prevention, and rounding with health providers to provide prospective audit and feedback.
Graduate from an accredited College of Pharmacy, required
Valid license as a Pharmacist in the State of practice, required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, required
One (1) year of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting, preferred
