Position Summary Infusion/Sterile compounding Clinical Pharmacist
This key role, based at our Memorial Central, Colorado Springs location, will work with the clean room team and ensure quality care for our patients. The successful candidate will require independent decision-making, clinical judgement, and in-depth knowledge of USP <797>. We are looking for a patient-focused and team-oriented individual with experience in sterile compounding, parenteral nutrition, and oncology preparation. The daily activities of the infusion clinical pharmacist are diverse and will include collaborating with nutrition services, perioperative staff and responding to emergency alerts, as well as order verification, dispense check, profile review, drug therapy management per protocol, some teaching, and others depending on the skills and interests of the individual.
Manages pharmaceutical care and protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
Reviews, interprets and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential or actual drug-related problems.
Provides drug information and education to medical professionals, students, and patients.
Documents interventions and their outcomes for use in drug therapy quality improvement efforts.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
State licensure as a Pharmacist.
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course).
Pharm.D. degree and/or Pharmacy Residency is preferred
Hospital experience with Sterile compounding experience is preferred.
