The OB Tech works with his or her team (RN) to assist in delivering direct patient care. The licensed OB tech is cross-trained to perform a wide range of essential patient services including medication administration by licensed LPN. The OB Tech performs a variety of basic age specific duties to assist in patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. All clinical care will be done under the direction of the RN who has determined appropriate tasks for delegation.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Healthcare experience preferred.
Current CO. CNA license required.
American Heart Association BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
Current CO LPN license with IV certification required if an LPN is in this position.
Current CO Surgical Tech and/or Surgical Assist Registration required within 90 days.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
An employee in this position provides a full range of assistance to the RN’s caring for the newborn, antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patient.
Health Unit Secretary duties required.
Vision sufficient to read medical records, instruments, documentation, and visual changes in
Hearing sufficient to interact with client who may be unable to speak at normal voice level.
Mobility (including lifting, bending, stooping, reaching) and dexterity sufficient to assist clients and handle required instruments.
