Provides administrative support to the Imaging department. Per facility, assists with scheduling patients, updating patient information and providing patients with information. Promotes patient confidentiality by screening incoming phone calls and all incoming visitors/patients to the office. Coordinates multiple department projects to be completed in a specified time frame.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School diploma or GED
Minimum Experience Requirements
One year of experience in a healthcare, customer service or administrative setting
Patient scheduling or Registration in a health care setting, preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD codes, preferred
Excellent communication (both written and oral) skills
Basic computer skills
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )
Greets patients and family members.*
Registers outpatient imaging patients, enter orders and collects co-pay as determined by facility.*
Answers incoming call promptly in a pleasant, helpful manner. Triages incoming calls and obtains accurate and appropriate information for messages. Delivers messages in a timely manner.*
Communicates with Imaging staff regarding patient arrival times, tests and procedures.*
Communicates with other departments as needed to facilitate efficient patient care.*
Proactively identifies and communicates priority items to leadership (e.g. scheduling problems, routing orders, critical diagnostics and phone calls).*
Prioritizes multiple tasks and deals with fluctuating volumes. *
Responsible filing, data entry, copying, and reporting as needed. *
Receives referrals from provider offices for imaging services. Schedules patients for imaging procedures in a timely manner as determined by facility. *
Confirms future appointments with scheduled patients. *
Prepares the following day's schedule, obtaining medical record numbers and provides the schedule to the technologists as needed. *
Coordinates schedule with radiologist on duty and other departments. *
Handles all requests for patient records per department/facility policy to minimize patient wait times. *
Maintains current patient records and checks film in and out as determined by facility. *
Responsible for inventorying and ordering department supplies. *
Manages department correspondence and requests; routes mail, distributes memos and other material to staff, sends reports to doctor's offices as requested, processes requests CD's or films from doctors' offices, etc. *
Imports CD's and digitizes film. *
Responsible for maintaining department records as assigned. *
