Responsible for managing and facilitating the gift shop operations to include purchasing, visual merchandising and
displays, supervising volunteers, reporting and developing sales strategies to maximize profits.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School diploma or GED required
Advanced degree in business or retail management preferred
Minimum Experience Requirements
Two years of experience in retail operations and shop management, preferred
Visual merchandising experience
Inventory control and purchasing experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel and QuickBooks
Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills required
Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an *)
Supervises and trains gift shop volunteers/staff to use cash register effectively and customer service standards. *
Supervise the stocking, inventory and marking of merchandise for maximum efficiency. *
Schedules monthly gift shop volunteer/staff. *
Ensures volunteer/staff well-being and job satisfaction.
May provide staffing in an emergency or absence of regular volunteers/staff. *
Assists with purchasing merchandise for shops. *
Responsibility of ordering items for specific departments. *
Data entry of purchase orders. *
Receiving of merchandise, pricing, and labeling. *
Restock, maintain displays, and oversee housekeeping of the shops.*
Prepare monthly reports to include profit margins and status of inventory. *
Facilitates sales and turnover of merchandise to ensure maximum profits.
Order seasonal merchandise. *
Accurately and effectively tracks and pays invoices. *
Reports on various metrics associated with inventory, sales and internal auditing. *
Market gift shop.
Assist in creating campaigns to increase sales.
Assists in finding new merchandise lines.
