Responsible for receiving phone calls and fax requests to schedule patients for outpatient tests. Complete pre-registration of scheduled patients, and ensure a valid provider order is obtained.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum Experience Requirements
1 year previous Patient Scheduling or Patient Access experience preferred
Office experience in a healthcare environment, medical terminology, knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 codes, ability to multitask and prioritization skills.
Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )
Maintains scheduling system: ensures schedule is up-to-date with no conflicting appointments.*
Maintains a pre-registration accuracy rate within the departmental guideline.*
Demonstrates the importance of quality and integrity of captured patient information with regards to patient confidentiality.*
Demonstrates a working knowledge of medical insurances and the financial responsibility for the patient. Check insurance eligibility.*
Accurately Schedules patient exams in a timely and professional manner.*
Responsible for all incoming lines, handles numerous specialty calls, initiates calls to providers.*
Has accurate knowledge of all outpatient tests.*
Give instructions on all tests, especially those that require a special prep.*
Performs pre-registration process through timely, accurate, and courteous completion of patient clinical and financial data by telephone.*
Maintains the established pre-registration standards.*
Educates patient prior to arrival on directions to hospital and internal departments, patient portion, registration process, and any documentation needed.*
