Under general supervision, the Capacity Planning Specialist III position is responsible for supporting all facets of capacity planning to include configuration management, system performance analysis (server, storage and network) and forecasting of future capacity requirements. This position requires the ability to work collaboratively with multiple diverse teams of technical SMES to plan for the capacity requirements for various complex systems and to resolve performance issues using standard methodology.
This position requires excellent communication, data analysis/correlation and problem solving skills. This position must have proven ability to follow standard methodology to provide root cause analysis for Incident and problem management.
Provides technical guidance and leadership to less senior personnel in the resolution of difficult system related issues and

Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum Experience Requirements
Ability to apply knowledge of computer storage, server and network architectures and sound technology architecture principles to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions, including accurate projections of storage, compute, and networking bandwidth needs.
Storage Network knowledge, including storage protocols, FC, FCoE, SCSI, iSCSI, and storage allocation, provisioning, tiering, and life-cycle management is required
Network knowledge, including network protocols, IP,UDP, TCP, CIFS, FTP, SFTP, SSH, NFS, and NDMP, Network bandwidth allocation and utilization, and NIC configuration is required
Operating systems knowledge, including Windows and AIX/Linux, is required. New technology awareness and research skills are necessary
24x7 Tier 2 support and on-call support responsibilities
Ability to work on project teams, delivering on key project milestones, and communicating effectively with a wide variety of people
Participation in Disaster Recovery infrastructure planning, building, and testing
Experience in performance, tuning and capacity planning is required; as is experience with proactive monitoring and automation
Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary

Assist in configuration and administration of environmental and monitoring tools, SCOM and TPC.*
Analyze requirements and provide recommendations for storage, compute and network aspects of new system implementations or upgrades.*
Create and maintain procedures for the reporting of capacity and utilization of existing storage compute and network systems.*
Troubleshoot and prov1de recommendations for storage, compute and network related capac1ty or performance issues.*
Provide formal and informal capacity planning training.*
Document the policies and procedures to support, operate, and enhance the infrastructure (storage, compute and network) hardware and software and part1cipate 1n the design and ongoing refinement of procedures and policies.*
Prepare reports on capac1ty related best practices, new technologies, etc., and recommend enhancements and configuration changes to improve and optimize storage, compute and network utilization.*
