Dispatching all transport activity of Flight For Life. Will serve as general communicator for all of Fight For Life to keep staff informed of all activity and transport requests. Will maintain Flight For Life database. Coordinates transfer center activity.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Diploma OR GED;
International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists (IAMTCS) CFC Course Completion within 18 months of employment.
Minimum Experience Requirements
Experience in EMS-related field or dispatching experience for a public service agency (i.e. air medical, Fire, Police, or EMS);
excellent computer skills;
customer service skills;
navigational and medical terminology knowledge;
able to multi-task; map reading.
Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )
Activates crews for transport requests as outlined in policies and procedures.
Relays appropriate medical information to transport crews as outlined in policy.
Coordinates requests for the transfer of patients into the Centura Health System or requests for consultation as outlined in policies and procedures, including connecting the referring M.D. with the M.D. from the correct specialty, confirming bed availability for the patient and offering transport coordination if appropriate.
Provides follow up to referring physicians as outlined in procedures, on patients that were transferred in to the Centura Health system through the Transfer Center service.
Accurately tracks all vehicle movement.
Maintains accurate and thorough database on patients transferred into the Centura Health System utilizing the Transfer Center services.
Supports Outreach Services, Trauma Services and other departments in provision of data and coordination of follow up.
Effectively uses time, personnel, and equipment to provide high quality dispatching.
Participates in formal and informal education about operational and clinical aspects of dispatching
Adapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
Demonstrates high skill level and ethical/legal practices through on-going education and meeting attendance.
Demonstrates knowledge of FCC Rules and Regulations for communication system in use.
Demonstrates ability to accurately operate and file information into mapping software, patch-matrix, and Flight For Life communication center database
Provides excellent customer service via phone and radio technology with requesting agencies and referring facilities.
