Coordinates the scheduling of surgeries and related procedures. The position supports several specialties and provides coverage for the other services if needed. The position is a vital piece of the surgical program and is necessary for providing efficient patient care. The position supports the providers, the collaboration between departments, and the complex coordination and scheduling of surgical procedures
Schedules surgical appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
Communicates with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities and staff.
Communicates with patients and/or their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and to confirm appointments.
Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.
