The Assistant Controller will:
*Assist in the timely and accurate completion of month end close.
*Prepare Medicare Contractual adjustments, review expenses for reasonableness, and assist with monthly variance report.
*Assist Department Directors with questions regarding their DOR's, productivity and check requests.
*Participate in the preparation for and the coordination of internal and external audits, the operating and capital budgets, and the hospital's tax and Medicare work papers.
*Accurately reconcile general ledger accounts on a timely basis as directed by the Controller and follows up on any reconciling items. Keeps supervisor apprised of problems/progress in areas of responsibility.
*Accurately and timely maintains capital expenditures for the hospital including reconciling and managing all CIP accounts, balance expenditures to the budget, maintaining FAS system and balancing budget to the Operating Indicators Report.
*Accurately and timely post discounts for the industrial billings. Verify that they are posted on the appropriate accounts.
*Maintains various schedules/information as assigned to be used in the preparation of yearend tax and Medicare work papers. The schedules include but not limited to Contributions, Capital, and the 900 account analysis.
*Is knowledgeable of Business Objects and can create scripts in multiple universes.
*Is knowledgeable of APG's and other financial policies.
*Assist with the preparation of the monthly Sarbanez Oxley 404 requirement.
Is knowledgeable of and utilizes the accounting systems available to more efficiently perform his/her job functions.
Maintains company information in a well organized manner and in accordance with company policies. Workspace is organized and information is easily located.
Provides courteous and helpful customer service to all internal and external customers.
Required – 2 Years experience as an Accountant in a Hospital setting or 2 years experience as a Senior Accountant.
Preferred 2 Years accounting experience in a Hospital setting as a Senior Accountant.
Required – 4 Year Degree in Accounting or related field
