Performs operational and financial audits to identify cost saving situations, correct wasteful expenditures, and initiate recovery. Conducts fraud investigations. May lead audit teams as necessary.
Prepares the Audit Plan for the fiscal year, accommodating unexpected auditing as needed. Reviews soundness, adequacy, and application of financial and operating controls. Assesses the efficiency of resource use. Identifies wasteful expenditures, over payments, and revenue enhancements and initiates recovery. Makes recommendations on and may implement corrective actions.
Analyzes information to calculate the dollar value of loss sustained. Develops evidentiary matter to support the conclusions reached. Recommends corrective action to prevent recurrence. Conducts interviews and obtains written statements. Defers personnel actions from results of audits to Human Resources and supervisor.
Coordinates investigation efforts with law enforcement. Produces audit and investigation findings that are supported by documentation.
Produces written reports, including specific, obtainable recommendations. Communicates in a clear and non-confrontational manner with staff. Conducts audits to identify patient care and satisfaction issues and makes recommendations for improvement.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
3 years of auditing, or health care financial management experience including 2 years of auditing or public accounting.
Certification in Accounting/Auditing (CPA, CIA or CFE).
2 years of hospital experience in Operations or Finance.
