Manages the daily operations of the department or assigned area/function to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
· Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
· Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
· Performs and oversees scheduling, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
· Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
· Assesses the quality of services delivered and coordinates services with staff, medical offices, and external laboratories. Acts as Director in their absence.
Bachelor's degree in related field and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program
2 years related experience with 1 year supervisory.
Bachelor's in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science and 4 years training and experience in high-complexity testing
Master's in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science and 2 years training and experience in high-complexity testing
Doctorate in clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science and 1 year training and experience
Licenses and Certifications
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty/subspecialty as applicable to job responsibilities. State licensure if required by law.
