Manages the daily operations of the clinical research department.
The Cardiac Research Manager is responsible and accountable for the planning, organizing, directing, supervising and evaluating all clinical trial and patient care services provided by the Cardiac Research Department. Demonstrates skillful and effective communication patterns to maximize clinical research services and meet the goals and objectives of the organization's mission statement
The manager is required to effectively communicate with sponsors, colleagues, physicians, monitors, and representatives of clinical studies (e.g., CROs and ARO) to ensure the safety and well-being of all research participants. Coordinates and collaborates with other department supervisors, and regional/system stakeholders to ensure communication and completion of research initiatives. Demonstrates effective skills in team building, problem solving/decision making, and conflict management.
The Cardiac Research Manager directs operational and logistical tasks of clinical development to ensure efficient execution of trials within established budgets and timelines, ensuring all research activities occur in compliance with the appropriate regulations, including ICH guidelines, GCP, and FDA regulations, IDE, etc.
The Cardiac Research Manager coordinates the efforts of internal and external resources to ensure fast patient recruitment, trial site selection, trial plan optimization and execution of trials with a focus on quality.
Completes all contract and budget negotiations during the study start up period. Responsible for the financial stability of the department through completing all financial related tasks (e.g. budget analyses, collection of clinical trial payments, and management of office expenses and employee salaries/compensation).
Assists with developing departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. Manages staff including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. Performs and oversees scheduling, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements. Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies. Assesses the quality of services delivered and coordinates services with staff, the Institutional Review Board (IRB), other departments, and external agencies.
Bachelor's degree in a health or science related field.
3 years clinical research experience.
