Position Summary: Reports to CNO. Responsible for forecasting, planning and managing resource requirements for nursing depts. Collaborates with senior management so that resources are allocated/used in a manner that optimizes the hospital's performance according to the strategic plan. Collateral responsibility for nursing short-term and/or long-term projects/programs. Primary responsibilities include staffing (retention, recruitment, and education), capacity, profitability of service lines, identifying capital equipment needs, technology planning, patient safety/quality initiatives, throughput, consumerism, resource productivity, and process management (utilization). Responsible for operations of assigned departments and the integration of the service within overall hospital functions. Collaborates in decision-making structures and processes. Knowledgeable of healthcare trends and integrates into strategic planning for department(s). Accountable for the implementation of an effective and continuous program to measure, assess and improve performance. Assures a high level of customer satisfaction. Must be willing to assume twenty-four hour responsibility for patient care and a leadership role with the health care team in planning and delivering patient care. #-LI-AA1
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
Current licensure in the state of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification
Required Education or Experience
Master in Nursing, Nursing Administration or business related degree required.
Minimum of three to five years in comparable position preferred. Recent clinical experience in specialty

Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including, but not limited to, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others
