Position Summary: The Patient Care Supervisor provides clinical management to the hospital through organizing, coordinating and monitoring patient care and representing Administration during off hours, weekends and holidays. The Patient Care Supervisor performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at Swedish Medical Center.
Completes all mandatory competency requirements.

Supports team interdependency in quality improvement while maintaining personal accountability and impact of decisions.
Takes responsibility for supporting and making positive changes for continuing improvement.
Modifies practice upon recognition of performance improvement opportunities on a continual basis.
Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental PI activities.
Graduate of a certified school of nursing required.
Minimum of 5 years clinical RN experience required.
Three years progressive supervisory or management experience preferred.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the practice of nursing theory and process.
Demonstrates the ability to plan and provide for delivery of nursing services.
Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people and to maintain constructive relationships in dealing with them. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Participates in counseling and guidance of personnel.
Demonstrates a leadership role with the health team in planning and delivery of patient care.
Reports To: Director of Nursing Administration
Degree of Supervision Required: Minimal. Individual proceeds on own initiative, in compliance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and practices of SMC and in frequent collaboration with the Director.
Orientation Period: Based on experience and continuous assessment and progress by Director. Orientation includes formal nursing department orientation of 2-4 days during first 2 weeks of employment.
