Maintains and cares for facility grounds and performs general outside and inside maintenance duties as they relate to the area of yards and grounds. Coordinates the work duties of other groundskeepers.
Minimum Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Minimum Experience Requirements
5 years of horticulture experience
Valid Colorado drivers license Current Applicators certificate for fertilizer/herbicide, preferred
Position Duties (Essential Functions)
Equipment Maintenance – 20%
Maintains all equipment in proper working order, including lubrication and cleaning; reports and schedules necessary repairs.
Develops and implements water sprinkling systems schedule.
Ability to troubleshoot and/or repair sprinkler system, small engines and other equipment.
Regularly prepares seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals, cuts and trims grass as needed.
Demonstrates the ability to prune trees and trim hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
Leadership – 20%
Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work.
Coordinates workloads, expedites work orders and regularly logs times and materials required for completion of work.
Investigates delays, solves problems and ensures timely completion of the work.
Evaluates cost estimates and schedules sub-contractors for repairs to the building equipment.
Monitors and inspects work to ensure compliance with codes, regulations and job specifications.
Provides assistance with maintenance, preventive maintenance and construction duties as necessary.
Maintains all required records and information for all regulatory agencies (i.e. The Joint Commission, Life Safety and State/City building/health departments.
Critical Thinking – 15%

Anticipates maintenance needs before they become a problem or a safety hazard.
Works well under pressure of time constraints.
Trash Removal – 15%
Continually picks up all papers, bottles and other trash surrounding the facility and parking lots.
Develops and implements cleaning schedule for trash dumping areas.
Seasonal Maintenance – 10%
Removes snow and ice surrounding the facility, spreads salt or sand as required.
Works inside building doing maintenance jobs during down times.
Ability to maintain garage/storage shed in a neat and orderly fashion.
Ability to maintain and upkeep of P.M. schedules for exterior of building.
Heavy Work - exert/lift up to 100 lbs force occasionally, and/or 50 lbs frequently, and/or 20 lbs constantly
