Clinical Billing Specialist II (Certified Biller/Coder)

Position Summary: This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Clinical Information Specialist II works in conjunction with the A/R Lead Representative in completing and overseeing physician billing and collections processes for Uptown Primary Care center physician inpatient and outpatient services.
Job Duties: This position has the overall responsibility for verifying all office visit accounts for correct E&M, ICD and CPT codes per government regulations and department, hospital, HealthOne and HCA policies and procedures. Additional accounts may be added to this verification process. Other duties include:
Maintains a knowledge of billing practices between the clinic's physician billing service and the clinic
Checks all super-bills for correct billing practices
Data entry, including patient demographics, for all departments into Medisoft, review dictation for correct ICD-10 and CPT codes.
Maintains a knowledge of billing practices between the hospital and clinic
Instructing CBCI MG providers on coding.
Establishes contract and payment plan with self-pay.
Collaborates with CBCI and Transplant Financial authorization teams to identify risks to revenue cycle.

Position Requirements: A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: A coding credential from a nationally recognized organization is required, CPC, RHIT, CCS, RHIA are recognized. B. Education: Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred. C. Experience: Minimum 1-2 years clinical billing preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience clinic coding preferred D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Good understanding of physician practice management with skills in managed care, Medicare/Medicaid, patient financial services. Good understanding of day-to-day operations of physician practice and/or business office. Good understanding of clinic coding rules and regulations. Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Business Supervisor of Uptown Primary Care. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
