Responsible for Hospital's overall financial plans, policies and accounting practices. Directs treasury, budgeting, audit, and accounting activities for the Hospital. Establishes financial reporting system with controls and standards to safeguard Hospital assets. Ensures accurate and timely financial information. Develops accounting and statistical data. Responsible for Materials Management, Business Development, Information Systems and Patient Accounting. Serve as a key executive partner to both the hospital CEO and CFO of the Community Hospital Division, providing critical advice and counsel regarding site financial matters. Lead the development of the entity level annual operating and capital budgets. Serve as the leader in developing productivity targets and monitoring performance. Coordinate requests for decision support, financial analysis and return on investment decision packages. Oversee the entity level supply chain functions: distribution, contract compliance, inventory, value analysis. Provide the finance support of physician contracting requests. Entity level accounting for fixed assets and expense accruals. Have the operational areas of health information management. Conduct monthly operating reviews of expenses and revenue cycle and perform analysis as necessary. Represent MHS in the development of managed care and supply chain contracts in conjunction with system VP Payer Relations and Network Development. Individual with the following qualifications to make a long-term commitment to the organization:
Maintains competency to provide the care and services as it applies to the department's patient/customer population and as defined in the department's Scope of Service document. Responsible for the financial success of the Hospital. Serves as a consultant regarding the Hospital's financial affairs, to include short and long term financial planning and strategy. . Establishes and maintains an accounting system to meet Hospital's needs to provide complete and accurate records of assets, liabilities, and financial transactions. Responsible to analyze and report on monthly financial statements including monthly reporting to the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees. Responsible for the operating and capital expenditure budget process including presentation to the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees. Responsible to develop and implement a reporting system showing budget to actual variances useful to department managers and the Hospital administration. Responsible to investigate areas and methods of reducing operating costs and increasing revenues. Plans, directs, supervises through managers, and coordinates functions and activities in Patient Finance, Medical Information Services, Business Development, Materials Management and Information Services. Participates in Hospital/Medical Staff committee meetings as required. Attends meetings as required, and participates on committees as directed. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest industry trends. Responsible to assure completion of all requested financial analysis as necessary. Selects, trains/orients and assigns his department managers. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Responsible to review the actual to budget performance of all departments under his control. Responsible to work with his managers to strive to implement operating efficiencies. Responsible to coordinate independent financial statement audits and audits of the City Auditor. Maintains Hospital's investment program in compliance with the Hospital's Investment Policy.
- Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
- 8 years of increasing health care financial management responsibility and experience
- 8 years of management experience
- Computer/word processing proficiency
