I.Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA) of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical care to meet the needs of the whole person. The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) of The Medical Center of Aurora is a fast paced, outpatient observation unit. The CDU RN will oversee and direct the care of patients whose medical needs can most often be taken care of within a 24-hour time frame. The Registered Nurse is responsible for prescribing, delegating and coordinating all nursing care through utilization of the nursing process and for meeting the unit standards of nursing practice. ·Assess treatment and care for adult patients.
·Be responsible for delegation and supervision of personnel, in the provision of care to ensure that patient needs and expected outcomes are met
·Work to improve and sustain the Clinical Decision Unit image as a responsible, service oriented department.
·Perform assessments, plan patient care, provide direct care, and educate and orient families and staff.
A.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Colorado, Idaho, Utah or Compact Registered Nurse License required; BLS – Healthcare provider required. ACLS preferred within three months of hire.
B.Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN Preferred. Activity in professional organizations encouraged.
D.Special Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills.
E.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse required; BLS – Healthcare provider required. ACLS required within three months of hire.
F.Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN Preferred. Activity in professional organizations encouraged.
G.Experience: One year of previous RN experience preferred. OR, ED, Telemetry, ICU experience preferred.
H.Special Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills.
V.Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director, NurseManager, Clinical Nurse Coordinator and/or Unit Charge Nurse. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
VI.Populations & Ages of Patients Served: This position requires knowledge of growth and developmental needs of patients and families. Personnel in this position must recognize and respond to the behaviors of patients and families in each age category. The employee must be able to demonstrate the special skills required to care for patients and their families according to standards. (The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.)
