In this position, the Ultrasonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures in order to obtain maximum quality desired results according to physicains specifications that includes, but is not limited to, selecting and loading film cassettes, reviewing charts and assisting the patient during the procedure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnostic Ultrasound Procedures
Selects and operates equipment while selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
Perform 2-D imaging, spectral Doppler, and color Doppler procedures on an inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Room basis
Assists patient in assuming physical position for required examination, provides immobilization as required and explains test procedures to the patient
Reviews patient chart and results of previous diagnostic studies and records patient's personal and medical information
Assists physicians in performance of other related examinations such as amniocentesis, cyst puncture, thoracentesis, etc.
Records images using proper identification information and sends results of sonography to physician for interpretation
Completion of an accredited Ultrasonography program
RDMS registered or registry eligible and must obtain RDMS within six months of employment
Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment
Experience in understanding and usage of computers including the ability to learn applications relevant to the position
