Assists DI staff in escorting inpatients and outpatients to and from the department for exams or procedures using appropriate equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds, and lift equipment. Receives and gives hand-off information to appropriate care-givers. Responsible for maintaining and cleaning transport equipment and supplies needed to perform duties, including monitoring oxygen tanks used in the department. This person also has functions as an EKG technician including performing and editing EKG’s, and application of Holter Monitors. This position assists with restocking linens in the various modalities. Assists various modalities with maintaining the medical record shred bins and recycle bins.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Previous medical experience preferred.
Skills acquired through on the job training.
American Heart Association BLS certification required within 90 day orientation period.
Basic EKG/Arrhythmia by Webinar required within 90 day orientation period.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, intermediate computer skills and telephone skills required
Familiarity with medical terminology helpful.
Ability to prioritize and multitask required.
Will need to use and have good body mechanics.
Vision sufficient to read medical records, instruments, documentation. Hearing sufficient to interact with patients who may be unable to speak at normal voice level. Mobility (including lifting, bending, stooping, reaching) and dexterity sufficient to assist patients and handle required instruments.
