Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of ER or Central Admissions patients and admission of individuals who have hospital-based outpatient testing or procedures. Ensures accurate patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patients or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database and prints a patient chart. Representative enters orders for ancillary departments and initiates additional forms as directed by the other units in the hospital. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Responsible for collecting payments when applicable. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities. Works with limited daily supervision and frequent informational supervision. Performs all other duties as assigned.
High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent preferred. CPR preferred by completion
of the unit-specific orientation and before working independently.
6 months experience in hospital admitting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
Requires the ability to prioritize work and function calmly in stressful situations. Ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays. Prefer medical terminology. This position may require interaction with people of all ages; therefore, the employee must have communications skills appropriate for people of all ages.
