The Spine Nurse Navigator functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team as an advocate and educator for patients from point of entry, through diagnostic studies, diagnosis and treatment plan.
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification
Certificate of qualification, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner according to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act
Experience in program development
Experience as a nurse navigator and/or patient educator
Required Education or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Preferred Education or Experience
Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration
Minimum five years of experience in spine
Required Knowledge and Skills
Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including, but not limited to, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of community resources
Possess personal computer skills
Ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize
Possess problem-solving and critical thinking skills
