As the shared voice of the global health community, Global Health Council (GHC) facilitates critical discussion around global health priorities and advocates for improved investments and policies to advance the global health agenda. GHC actively supports its members to work toward equitable, inclusive and sustainable solutions to global health challenges. GHC members include leading global health NGOs, private sector corporations, universities and individual global health experts and students. GHC seeks an intern for 2019 winter/spring (between January - May; dates flexible) to support GHC’s communications platform as well as the implementation of key processes within the GHC, specifically updating a member database and gathering and synthesizing data from our members. During the internship, the student will be exposed to aspects of international development through interaction with global health organizations dedicated to collaborating around global health advocacy and fundraising. The intern will report to our downtown Washington, DC office.
Gather information from GHC members and news outlets for GHC social media channels, newsletter, and website
Synthesize and compose social media and newsletter content to be disseminated through our networks
Assist in membership services support, including maintaining member contacts through organization's database and drafting member communications
Other duties as assigned
Undergraduate or graduate student with interest in working for a not-for-profit organization with a global perspective
Prior internship or professional experience preferred
Ability to operate independently and in a team environment with little supervision
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Superior attention to detail
Ability to successfully handle multiple assignments
Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills required
Experience using social media (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) required
Experience using design software and platforms (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Canva) preferred
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
Additional Salary Information: This is a flexible, unpaid internship between 15-20 hours per week. Academic credit possible. A travel stipend will be provided.
