Reporting to the Director of Quality, this position is responsible for the provision of clinical services in support of patients with wounds and related skin breakdown. The Wound Nurse functions as an integral member of the patient care team that performs in-depth wound assessments, treatment methodology, and the evaluation of products and current plans of care. The Wound Nurse consults with Providers and provides consultation and training to the nursing staff. The Wound Nurse guides and supports patient care staff using the Braden Scale for risk assessment, and provides appropriate instruction to staff nurses on the care of patients using evidence based practice and products that support wound care and healing. The Wound Nurse will act as a clinical resource for all team members for wound interpretation and guidance, while maintaining an expert level of skill in this area.
