The RN Unit Educator is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in a specific area of clinical nursing and is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a program of education for an assigned population. Programming includes initial and ongoing staff competency (including a standardized department-based orientation), as well as continued education as identified by needs assessments and regulatory requirement initiatives. Applies policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate to the facilityâs patient population(s). The scope of the education will be determined through collaborative practice with department management, educators, and advanced practice nurses to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care; assumes the role of an educator, facilitator, consultant, researcher and change agent.
This position will work mainly on day shift but must also be flexible to cover the education needs on other shifts as well. There is a strong possibility of floating hours to another department if desired to allow for more hours per week.
What You Bring/Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited School of Nursing required ;Â Masterâs DegreeÂ in Nursing (MSN), Education, or other related graduate field of study preferred
Four years of recent nursing experience required
Current Colorado RN license/ Current RN license from a participating state in National Licensure Compact
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
Requires advanced knowledge in nursing, evidence-based practice methods, and person-centered care concepts
Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty unit
Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office products and e-learning platform
Four years of experience in a clinicalÂ specialty preferred
Two years of staff development, academic teaching and /or project development coordination preferred
Current appropriate facility identified national certification upon hire, or within one year of certification eligibility
Demonstrates progress in obtaining staff development certification within one year of meeting eligibility requirements
ICU experience - 2 years strongly preferred
Physical Requirements -Â Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly
