POSITION SUMMARY: Performs mechanical installation and repair maintenance functions to buildings and equipment that would be encountered within a hospital complex. Evaluate mechanical problems and coordinate repairs/replacement with outside vendors, prioritizes maintenance requests to ensure patient, staff and visitor comfort, and safety is maintained at all times.
Maintains and repairs mechanical equipment used within the hospital complex.
Performs daily check of all mechanical equipment in kitchen/cafeteria; maintains, adjusts, repairs as needed to ensure proper operation. Equipment includes, but is not limited to dishwashers, ovens, refrigerator equipment, carts, disposals, slicers, steam kettles, can openers, ice makers, etc.
Makes daily checks on boilers, generators and related equipment.
Repairs and maintains air moving equipment, change shafts, pillow blocks, bearings, gears, and belts. Checks temperature and humidity level when required. Modifies or alters air handling equipment.
Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs all pumps, related piping and systems.
Maintains and operates heating and cooling loops, heat exchangers. Makes adjustments and repairs to air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Maintains, repairs or replaces mechanical equipment used in hospital treatment and patient care areas to include wheelchairs, carts, tables, and other mechanical equipment.
Inspects, repairs, maintains piping systems, including pressurized and vacuum systems, notes gauge readings to detect pressure loss or gain, strips out old piping; replaces defective pipe or tubing by cutting, bending, threading, and assembling new pipe or tubing. Opens clogged sewers or drains with plumbing snake or vacuum plunger, repairs damaged fixtures, replaces worn washers, gaskets, or other parts in leaky valve or traps.
Responds to trouble calls of a mechanical nature within the facility, often on an emergency basis.
Conducts preventative maintenance checks to assure that equipment is in good working order.
