St. David's South Austin Medical Center is an acute care facility with 316 beds, offering a range of complex specialties and sub specialties, including a nationally accredited oncology program with the area's only adult bone marrow transplant program; a trauma program that includes all of the capabilities and programmatic elements of a Level II trauma center to treat the most severely injured and critical patients; a comprehensive cardiac program; full service maternity and newborn care with Level I and II nurseries; and two full service emergency centers in the communities of Bee Cave and Bastrop.
Position Summary: The exercise physiologist is responsible for performing day to day implementation and follow up care for patients in Phase II and III of the cardiac rehabilitation program. This consists of direct caseload responsibilities for 1 20 patients in which the exercise physiologist works independently and/or in conjunction with other cardiac rehabilitation team members under the direction of a registered nurse to provide an individualized program tailored to each patients particular needs. In addition, the exercise physiologist may assist in all other phases of the cardiac rehabilitation services by having rotation assigned duties including teaching/counseling, providing staff inservices, performing health assessments, exercise stress testing, and participate in other special programs delivered by South Austin Hospital . Position is for outpatient cardiac rehab program.
Education: Required: Minimum education BS in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or Exercise Science related degree. Completion of an internship in cardiac rehabilitation is required or 1 2 years direct working experience in cardiac rehabilitation or a clinical cardiovascular setting. Credentials: Required: Current basic life support (BCLS) certification required. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) completion/certification preferred. Applicants should be willing to apply for and attain ACSM Exercise Specialist certification.
