The Childbirth Educator/Patient Educator is a professional who is responsible for educating the expectant mother or newly delivered mother and her significant other(s) about their pregnancy and upcoming labor, delivery and/or postpartum adjustment.The educator provides families with methods and tools for coping and adjusting through these various phases and stages of the perinatal period.
Professional certification as a childbirth educator by a national certification organization when applicable.
Maintain certification and continuing education through workshops, inservices and conferences.
One to two years previous teaching experience preferred.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Registered nurse in the Commonwealth of MAorprofessional who has become certified by a national certification organization.
