The Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Ultrasound Clinic Technologist performs routine and complex OB/GYN Sonographic Imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospitalized patients, in a Physician Office or Clinic Setting, as requested by a physician or other licensed provider and under general supervision of a MFM Specialist Physician, for assessment and diagnosis of pregnancy conditions in accordance with established protocols. The MFM Specialist Physician specializes in perinatal sonography with Ultrasound examinations that include a variety of conditions ranging from routine OB/GYN, to high risk obstetrical scans, which include: nuchal translucency, fetal echocardiogram and sonographic guidance for invasive procedures.
The MFM Ultrasound Clinic Technologist job duties include, but are not limited to:
Recognizes sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow; adjusts scanning technique to optimize image quality and spectral waveform characteristics.
Analyzes sonography findings throughout the course of the examination so that a comprehensive exam is completed and sufficient data is provided to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
Performs measurements and calculations according to practice protocol; strives to minimize patient exposure to acoustic energy without compromising examination quality or completeness.
Assures operation of Ultrasound equipment by performing quality checks following manufacturer's recommendations and trouble-shooting equipment as required, and calling in repairs when necessary.
Assures that an adequate clinical history is available to correlate with the ultrasound exam to be performed, and examines the requisition of the ultrasound thoroughly to ensure complete understanding of the desired physician study.
Communicates effectively with patients about the ultrasound procedure in order to obtain supporting clinical information and to provide a high focus and safe customer environment.
Verifies the patient's identification using two forms of ID as outlined in hospital policies- Communicates with patient clearly and in a professional manner using AIDET.
Demonstrates skill and knowledge consistently in the use of ultrasound test objects for quality assurance purposes and performs quality assurance tests on assigned units as scheduled.
Assists the physician as needed in performing amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, intrauterine transfusion or other invasive procedures.
Takes responsibility to understand and complete professional and technical requirements and provide Baylor Scott & White Health with the necessary documentation on such requirements.
The ideal candidate for the MFM Clinic Technologist will be able to utilize technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria.

Graduate of an Accredited Program or Equivalent
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers RDMS (OB/GYN) or (AB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT (S) Certification
Fetal Echocardiography (FE) or Nuchal Translucency (NT) Certification or within 1 year of hire.
