This position performs a variety of activities to enhance the lives of a designated patient population. These activities may include, but are not limited to, light housekeeping, laundry, food preparation, shopping and personal care needs. This position ensures the safety and dignity of the patient and provides support and education to both the patient and their families.
Implements the patients plan of care by providing assistance with activities of daily living and personal hygiene. Ensures the safety and dignity of all patients. Ensures proper nutrition for all patients.
Provides a clean and safe environment for all patients. Coordinates, delegates and participates in household management tasks, such as light housekeeping, laundry, food preparation and shopping.
Interacts socially with the patients and their families to help increase and maintain a positive social and personal environment. Plans and implements outlined activity programs. Participates in patient and family support and education.
Observes patients and reports signs and symptoms of medical, nutritional, cognitive and behavioral problems.
Completes all necessary daily documentation.
Some settings may require the incumbent to occasionally administer physician ordered and prescribed routine medications, in which case the incumbent must possess the appropriate licensure and/or training.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Current BLS certification, or ability to obtain. Some departments may require Certified Caregiver Certification, C.N.A., Food Handlers Card and/or Medication Administration Qualification. Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and insurability may also be required.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to follow established policies and treatment procedures. Must demonstrate good assessment and organizational skills.
Experience working with patient population and understanding of the aging/disease process preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
