GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will coordinate the nursing care and patient care components of the Ventricular Assistive Device Program with patients, families, and staff, using existing and evolving standards related to this innovative program. Responsibilities include participating in the evaluation and screening of patients for a VAD in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team, supporting service and unit level leadership by providing clinical and resource assistance in the management of these patients, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, and assisting in the development, implementation and evaluation of the clinical program structure, process and outcome standards. The VAD Coordinator is available 24/7 for the perioperative phases of implantation, provides clinical support for staff and patient care management involved in the perioperative phases, and engages in troubleshooting when necessary. This coordination includes but is not limited to patient education, staff education, community education, surgical coordination, clinic visits, and record keeping.
1. Currently licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Nevada
2. Master's degree in nursing required
3. Minimum of three to five years experience in cardiovascular nursing, cardiac surgical nursing, critical care nursing, cardiac transplantation, and/or care of patients with ventricular assist devices.
4. Knowledge of computers and database information systems.
