The RN Educator is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in clinical nursing. Assumes accountability and responsibility for provision of professional development to positively influence the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care. Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a program of education. Programming includes initial and ongoing staff competency (including a standardized nursing orientation), as well as continued education as identified by needs assessments and regulatory requirement initiatives. Applies policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate to their populations. The scope of the education will be determined through collaborative practice with leadership, educators, and advanced practice nurses to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care; assumes the role of an educator, facilitator,Â consultant, researcher and change agent.
Shares responsibility with Director for formulating, interpreting, implanting, evaluating and supporting standards of care, objectives, policies and procedures. Observes performance of staff educations and conducts evaluation conferences with the Director. Assists with a plan for orientation of all new employees. Interviews prospective employees in conjunction with the Director. Promotes optimum utilization of staff, supplies, equipment and facility. Assists in the development of goals and action plans. Promotes effective working relationships among staff and medical staff and maintains an atmosphere of calm. Assists the director in the development of the unit budget and is responsible for effective utilization of human and material resources. Initiates audits, reviews results, incident reports and reports deficits to the Director.
What You Bring/Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Five years of experience in nursing
Experience as a Maternal Child Educator, strongly preferred Two years of staff development, academic teaching and /or project development coordination preferred Requires advanced knowledge in nursing, evidence-based practice methods, and person-centered care concepts Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty unit Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office products and e-learning platform
Bachelor's in Nursing required
Masters in Nursing, preferred
Current Kansas RN license
Current BLS from American Heart Association
ACLS within 6 months, instructor within 9 months
PALS within 6 months, instructor within 9 months
NRP within 6 months,Â instructor within 9 months
EFM within 6 months,Â instructor within 9 months
Stable within 6 months,Â instructor within 9 months
AWHONN fetal monitoring, preferred, instructor within 9 months
