The Cook/Child Care Worker is responsible for giving each teacher a break and lunch under the guidance of the group leader in accord with the mission of Mercy Employee Child Care Center and is responsible for the supervision and management of the childcare center kitchen in accord with the mission of Mercy Child Care Center. To assist with planning and conducting a food program to help meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child.
What You Bring/Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Child development knowledge.
Excellent general health, mobility (including lifting, bending, stooping, reaching) and dexterity sufficient to work with young children, verbal ability to enhance language development in children and effectively communicates with parents.
Documentation of any experience in the care and supervision of four or more children under six years of age who are not related to the individual and ability to pass both Central Registry Inquiry and Colorado Bureau of Investigation fingerprint check. Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint check is also required if employee has nto lived in Colorado for a year.
To ensure that routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles. This includes routines related to removal of shoes, diapering/toileting, hand washing, cleaning, tooth brushing, eating, and napping.*
To ensure safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire drills.*
To read, understand, and be in compliance with all child care licensing standards.*
To read, understand, and be in compliance with all health department regulations.*
Demonstrates compliance with Catholic Health Initiatives policies and procedures.*
Daily greets each parent and child, communicates with parent through conversations, message boards, or forms.*
To make an effort to ensure parents receive adequate information about their child's experiences at the center.*
Parents are consulted in a timely manner whenver a situation arises (i.e. concerns about body language development, behavior, etc.).*
Light work - (Exert up to 20lbs force occasionally, and/or up toA 10lbs frequently)
