As a Clinical Dietitian I that practices nutrition in the ambulatory setting, this individual will work in several UCHealth Internal Medicine clinics four days a week working with a broad patient population in the primary care setting, with a focus on nutrition counseling for chronic disease self-management. In addition, this position provides nutrition counseling with the ALS Clinic one day per week, providing nutrition counseling as well as coordination of home nutrition support.
The ideal candidate is flexible and can thrive working in a variety of clinic environments, collaborates well with interprofessional health care teams and has an interest/background in teaching nutrition classes and other outreach opportunities.
Responsibilities: Assesses patient's nutritional status and needs. Develops and implements patient care plans and assesses patient responses.
Collaborates with physicians, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare team members/departments to determine, coordinate, and provide medical nutrition therapy. Participates in and coordinates departmental initiatives relative to patient care.
Develops and conducts education programs for patients, physicians, nurses, and other health care team members/departments, and/or the public.
Functions as a preceptor in support of the dietetic internship program
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's in Human Nutrition or related field required. Completion Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics approved Dietetic internship.
Required Licensure/Certification: Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration required within 3 months of hire.
Minimum Experience: 1 -2 years of outpatient nutrition experience preferred due to independent nature of this position. Experience in nutrition counseling for chronic disease self-management preferred
IF APPLICABLE: BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)
