The Executive Director of Children's Foundation serves as the chief executive officer of the Foundation and is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the Foundation so that annual-, mid-, long-term goals and objectives are achieved consistent with direction and desires provided by the Board of Directors. The Foundation Director will help develop policies and procedures (with Board of approval) for grant applications, fundraising, financial management, and other systems required for the organization to achieve its mission.
Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs.
Assists patient and family needs; assist the Board in prioritizing those needs and programs to meet them; develop recommendations for programs and implement programs approved by the board.
Lead fundraising efforts, including supporting the Board’s involvement in fundraising, personally cultivating and soliciting donors, and supervising the implementation of fundraising plans and policies approved by the board.
Manage the Foundation financially and assist the investment committee with the investment of Foundation assets.
Build positive relationships with partner organizations, the media and others, ensure that the Foundation develops a separate identity that is well-known and accepted within the community.
Serve as a spokesperson and representative of the Foundation.
Coordinate the development and implementation of grant requests among all constituents. Work continually to identify, recruit, orient, and develop Board membership and leadership.
As growth dictates, develop a staffing structure that supports the efficient delivery of programs and services, accomplishment of major goals identified in the strategic plan , and effective overall management.
Required Education or Experience
Familiarity with – or ability to quickly learn and analyze – the Wichita area philanthropic community and its key players, as well as community leaders
Experience in management and/or oversight of major fundraising events
Demonstrated ability to work well with a Board, using an inclusive style and consensus orientation
Experience in successfully approaching major donors and developing/managing contact lists
Experience with running a large or long-term fundraising campaign
The ability to develop and communicate a vision, combined with strong strategic and tactical skills, and openness to including new fundraising technologies
Preferred Education or Experience:
Experience dealing with the media
