PositionSummary: Under the direction of the Business OfficeSupervisor, this position is responsible for completing reviews for all exams under the scope of Diagnostic Imaging.Prior authorizations for all outpatient radiologyexams as needed.The Radiology Authorization Coordinator will review order requests forall radiology outpatient services in advance, working closely withtechnologist, modality supervisors and providers to collect all informationnecessary prior to a patient’s appointment. Also, communicates with patients, frontoffice staff, admissions, centralized scheduling, and technologists throughoutthe work day regarding status of authorization for scheduled exams (e.g..,communicate need for reschedule and/or cancellation if authorization notin-hand). Respects and protects the patient’s rights to confidentiality andprivacy and discloses information only for the professional purposes which arein the patient’s best interests according to HIPAA guidelines.
Displays a positive attitude andexceptional customer service when interacting with patients, provider’s office staff,providers and fellow employees. The RadiologyAuthorization Coordinatorwill use his/her professional judgement of care coordination opportunities andrefer those cases as needed to the Business Office Supervisor for furtherreview.The Radiology AuthorizationCoordinator will apply medical health benefit policy and medical managementguidelines to authorize services and appropriately identify and refer requeststo the Business Office Supervisor, Radiology Director, Revenue Cycle Directorand or Medical Director when guidelines are not met for further evaluation.Active participation in development of on-going process improvements related toauthorization management processes. Answers phones, schedules, and assists patients andfamilies as needed. When the need arises, performs other duties as assigned.

PositionRequirements: Has theability to work independently; detail oriented with multi-tasking andstrong prioritizing skills; excellent verbal and written communication skillsto effectively interact with patients,departmental officials/staff; ability to work in afast-paced environment under multiple deadlines; strong interpersonal skills toeffectively communicate with all levels of professionals and patients within theorganization; proven teamwork skills; ability to use independent judgment and;proficiency with Microsoft Office.
B.Experience:6 months of authorization experience. Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge ofradiology guidelines for Medicare/Medicaid and all commercial payers. Excellent knowledge inMedical Terminology, CPT Codes, and ICD-10 codes.
