Responsible for the supervision and management of the classroom in accord with the mission and curriculum of Mercy Employee Child Care Center. To use education and experience in the field to create a classroom learning environment that is loving and developmentally appropriate and meets the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each individual child.
To monitor the welfare, health, and safety of all children and report all situations to the Director. * To ensure that daily routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles. This includes routines related to removal of shoes, diapering, hand washing, cleaning, eating, and napping.* To ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire drills.* To read, understand, and be in compliance with all Child Care Licensing regulations.* To read, understand and be in compliance with all health department regulations.* To follow infection control policies and guidelines.* To greet and communicate with parents daily, making an effort to ensure parents receive adequate information about their childas experiences at the Center in a timely manner.* To model the language and behaviors we want to see in the children. To be the kind of person that we want the children to Education Requirement
To be trained and gain an understanding of all the necessary information on Conscious DisciplineA(r). Understanding that you will be required to implement the practices of this guidance model on a daily basis with the help of the Directors and other teachers.* To implement the principles of Conscious Discipline to the best of your ability in regard to: Composure, Active Calming, Positive Choices, and the Safe Place.* To never use corporal or harsh punishment, never being even a little rough with a child, and to never withhold food from a child.* To be warm, supportive, patient, and caring with every child and respond to their needs quickly and appropriately. To carry yourself as if each childas parent was standing right next to you.* To intentionally arrange your classroom, treating the physical space as the third teacher in the room. To rotate materials that are available for the children on a regular basis, including books and displays around the room, putting childrenas work on display.* To keep a clean and organized classroom, teacher closet, and work space. To complete and turn in a weekly cleaning list to the Director every Friday.* To complete weekly (monthly for infants) lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and enrich the different developmental learning areas.* To complete the required training hours each year and share the information gained from the trainings and workshops.* To work as a member of the School Family, being proactive in helping to find solutions to problems that arise. To consider the viewpoints of a child, a parent, the Directors, and other teachers.* Most importantly, to ensure high standards of quality is upkept in your classroom at all times and to enjoy spending your time with the children.*
