Functions as a Nurse Assistant and as a Unit Clerk, as determined by department needs. Performs individualized patient -focused care and technical tasks under the direct delegation of a registered nurse that are based on the developmental levels of the department’s specific patient population. Assist patients with the activities of daily living utilizing a patient-centered approach. Serves as a patient advocate working in a collaborative manner with the interdisciplinary team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
Required Education or Experience
Must have one of the following:
Completion of a nurse assistant program
Six months previous nurse assistant experience
Emergency medical technician experience
Successful completion of the first semester of nursing school clinical which includes basic clinical skills
Required Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Multi-tasking and prioritization skills
Ability to perform clerical skills and proper phone etiquette
Possess basic personal computer skill
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of medical terminology
One year nurse assistant experience in an acute care setting
