PositionSummary: Thisposition supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora. The ExercisePhysiologist, performs prescribed non-invasive cardiovascular proceduresand stress testing to patients under the supervision of a cardiologist,advanced practice provider, and imaging leaders. Duties include scheduling,explaining procedures to patients, monitoring their responses to tests,equipment maintenance, and detailed record keeping/reporting ensuring optimalcare/treatment of patients. The specialist also prepares patients, equipmentand materials used in diagnostic procedures.
The physiologist operates, calibrates andmaintains diagnostic equipment and records the patient's response. Preparespreliminary reports for final interpretation by the cardiologist. Performexercise, cardiac, nuclear, pharmaceutical, echo stress tests, Holter testingand analysis, and EKGs as prescribed. Recognizes chest pain, arrhythmias,life-threatening arrhythmias associated with stress testing responds/obtainsappropriate and immediate assistance as needed.
Ensures an accurate and readable recordingusing deductive reasoning to trouble shoot minor problems, make adjustments asneeded during the procedure and prepares recordings for interpretation.
Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical,historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriatestudy prescribed by the physician.
Works with physicians and serves as thetechnical expert on various Non-Invasive testing applications.
Assists with computerized charting and orderentry.
Assists with activities to improve departmentprocesses, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patientresults. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

B.Education:Bachelor of Science degree in healthcarerelated field, preferred in exercise science.
C.Experience:None required.However, priorexperience in a patient care related field preferred.
D.SpecialQualifications:Ability to communicate effectively withpatients, families, physicians, and other health care team members.Ability to work with others within a team toensure quality patient care.Strongcritical thinking skills.Ability tocommunicate with patients using auditory Input and Output.
Degreeof supervision required:Involves general guidance and direction bythe Director and Manager.Caresupervision will be performed by the delegating NP.Employee will be expected to perform most jobduties independently and in accordance with established departmental andhospital policies and procedures.Workperformance is reviewed by peers and managers.
