Position Summary: The Operating Room Scheduling Coordinator will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to manage the clerical and case scheduling functions required in the operating room. The Operating Room Scheduling Coordinator posts surgeries, and Endoscopy procedures, recording all pertinent information per department policy. The Operating Room Scheduling Coordinator also enters surgery patient charges, tracks Operating Room statistics, enters procedure information on a daily basis in the OR permanent log, and submits daily utilization information. The Operating Room Scheduling Coordinator may rotate to areas other than his/her normally assigned service area (surgery), and will perform those duties and care for which he/she has demonstrated competency. The Operating Room Scheduling Coordinator performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan for NSMC. The Scheduling Coordinator, displays positive support for NSMC, as well as the entire Health/One Corporation.
B.Education: Graduate of certified unit secretary training course preferred.
C.Experience: One to three years experience as a unit secretary or OR scheduler.
D.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic to advanced knowledge of computers; skills with scheduling systems preferred- typing and word processing skills required - 80 WPM with 90% accuracy; intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills in medical terminology. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.
