P/SL Food service department is looking to hire friendly food service workers to help assemble patient meals and deliver to patient’s beds side. Applicants need to have Excellent People skills and a strong compassion for caring for others. 6 months restaurant/kitchen or customer service preferred. The Food service department staff work most weekends and holidays. One of the most important things in a hospital is its food service. Patients need nutritious food to be delivered to their rooms in a timely manner and hospital food service workers are hired to make sure that this is taken care of. Hospital food service workers do not only deliver food to patients; they also help in the preparation of food items in accordance to instructions provided for each individual patient. The tasks that hospital food service workers perform i.e. Patient tray assembly, Delivery of patients trays to bedside, Excellent customer service, Tray retrieval, Ware washing and general cleaning. This position requires an annual flu shot as well as being required to use a computer for online training.
C.Experience: Minimum of two years Food Service experience as a cook preferred.
D.Special Qualifications: Must be able to use various Food Service/institutional equipment. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Must show good judgment and reliability. Must show good customer service skills. Must be able to perform multiple tasks at one time.
III. Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Sous Chef, Supervisor on duty and as needed, the Director of Food & Nutritional Services. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Ages of Patients Served: This position requires knowledge of growth and developmental needs of patients and families. Personnel in this position must recognize and respond to the behaviors of patients and families in each age category. The employee must be able to demonstrate the special skills required to care for patients and their families according to standards. (The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.)
