Supervises, plans, schedules, coordinates and or performs the general inspection and repair procedures necessary to maintain the physical and structural plant is safe operating condition and aesthetically pleasing. Maintains proper documentation of all tests, inspections, and repairs. Works closely with agents from regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with codes and standards. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and systems/services on an on -going basis.
~ Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs.
~ Plans, schedules and implements the day -to-day operation of the BMT’s and Maintenance Mechanics
~ Plans, schedules and prioritizes maintenance persons involved in preforming specific jobs to ensure that standards are met and that the department is complying with safety and building regulations and codes. This is to include 3rd party contractors performing MRO contracts.
~ Along with the Department Manager, monitors the Computerized Maintenance Management work order system
~ Requisitions parts and materials for the installation and repair of equipment and the facility
~ Maintains department spare parts stock
~ Monitors casualty prevention program to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies including Joint Commission, KDHE, Fire Marshall and others
~ Works with outside contractors and vendors for equipment installation and large repair projects
~ Assists in the selection of new BMT’s, provides orientation and feedback, completes annual performance evaluations and takes appropriate counseling action when necessary
~ Assists in the development and presentation of training programs on department equipment to ensure a highly competent staff
~ Supports commitment to fiscal priorities through appropriate management of resources; Identifies opportunities for improvement and cost containment in the delivery of care and service through Plant Operations
~ Maintains the on -call rotation schedule for building and ground coverage during after hours, holidays and weekends
~ Applies the use of blueprints, schematic diagrams, technical manuals and test equipment in performing corrective maintenance procedures
~ Supervises and or assists in the troubleshooting and performing of minor repairs to secondary electrical circuits, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, utility and refrigeration systems
~ Supervises and or assists in making repairs to building, such as floor coverings, repairing sheetrock, wall coverings, installation and repair of door operators, painting and carpentry
~ Supervises and or assists in repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures, faucets, valves, fittings in bath and shower facilities in accordance with instructions or trade standards
~ Supervises and or assists in accomplishing preventive and corrective maintenance procedures on such items as; pneumatic tube system, hospital beds, wheelchairs, patient transportation and moving equipment, etc.
~ Performs regular inspection of workshops and equipment rooms to ensure a clean, safe working environment
~ Supervises, plans, schedules, coordinates and or performs the general inspection and repair procedures necessary to maintain the physical and structural plant is safe operating condition and aesthetically pleasing
~ Maintains proper documentation of all tests, inspections, and repairs
~ Works closely with agents from regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with codes and standards
~ Properly handling and processing hazardous chemicals and waste as needed
Identifies opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and systems/services on an on -going basis

Valid State of Kansas Driver’s License with no stipulations and be insurable to operate the company vehicle
Preferred Education or Experience
Previous experience in plant operation and maintenance preferred
2-3 years of Supervisory experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrates effective communications skills
Demonstrates knowledge of the standard practices, tools, equipment and materials associated with a variety of crafts involved in facility and physical plant maintenance
Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, material safety data sheets and infection control procedures
Knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, utilities and refrigeration
Previous experience reading and interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings
Computer knowledge of data storage and retrieval
