Position Summary: The Patient Care Tech performs assigned tasks and activities according to skill level and patient needs as assessed by the RN. The Patient Care Tech supports nursing personnel in providing care to patients and assists with providing a safe, quiet, clean, organized environment for healthcare delivery. When the need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Nursing Assistant Certification or EMT Certification, or must have completed first year at an accredited Nursing program which included a medical/surgical rotation, and BLS-Healthcare provider required. B. C. Education:
D. Experience: Successful completion of an orientation program or equivalent experience. 4 years clinical experience is preferred.
E. Special Qualifications: Knowledge of basic clinical practices, procedures, and standards. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Basic knowledge of computer systems and good interpersonal skills. Strong critical thinking skills.
Degree of Supervision Required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director, Nurse Manager, Unit Charge Nurse or Staff RN. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Populations and Ages of Patients Served: This position requires knowledge of growth and developmental needs of patients and families. Personnel in this position must recognize and respond to the behaviors of patients and families in each age category. The employee must be able to demonstrate the special skills required to care for patients and their families according to standards. (The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.)
